Functioning of various wings of DIET Yamunanagar

Most programmes and activities of the institute involve more than one branch/department. Some of the major functions of each department are given below. These indicate only principal nodal responsibility. Each department is not an air tight compartment. One department can take support from other departments to accomplish its various activities.

Planning and Management (P&M) Wing

The Planning and Management (P&M) Wing of DIET Yamunanagar is responsible for supporting effective educational planning and decision-making at the district level. This wing plays a strategic role in gathering and analyzing data to improve the planning, implementation, and monitoring of educational programs.

Key functions of the P&M Wing include

➢ To maintain an appropriate database of the district for the planning of various educational interventions.
➢ To conduct studies in areas such as:
    1). Enrolment, retention and regularity of attendance of children of various groups (females, SC/ST, minorities, handicapped, slum dwellers and other disadvantaged groups) and various factors affecting these.
     2). Effect of various interventions and incentives on the above.
     3). Community’s perception of and participation in various educational programmes.
➢ To select a lab area within the reach of DIET
➢ Planning and organisation of various activities in the lab area.
➢ Development of norms, criteria & techniques for evaluation of Institutions, i.e. to find out the best schools/AIE centres at the block & district level.
➢ To provide technical guidance to educational authorities in school mapping.
➢ To provide guidance to various schools for the formulation & the execution of institutional planning.
➢ To act as the nodal branch for preparing annual institutional plans and annual self-evaluation reports of the DIET.
➢ To conduct appropriate programmes for head masters, principals, Heads of School complexes and block level educational functionaries in P&M, covering areas like:
     1. Leadership
     2. Motivation
     3. Involving the community
     4. Educational administration
     5. Finance & accounting
     6. Office procedure
     7. Institutional planning
     8. Maintenance of Record
➢ To serve as the nodal branch in relation to all programmes of community involvement in school education, and in particular, to conduct orientation programmes for:
      1. Members of SMC
      2. Community leaders
      3. Youth & other voluntary educational workers
To provide P&M related inputs into all other programmes/activities of the institute, e.g:-
      1. Pre-service & in-service programmes for teachers.
      2. Field Interaction (including Extension) activities
      3. Action research, etc.
➢ Monitoring of training of SMC members.
➢ Coordination with Saksham Sahyogis, ABRCs and BRPs of various blocks in the district.
➢ To organise review meetings of Saksham Sahyogis.
➢ Planning for the DEO and DC monthly review meetings.
➢ Organisation of meetings of various committees of DIET.
➢ Faculty members of P&M dept will provide P&M related inputs during mentoring visits of schools.
