Functioning of various wings of DIET Yamunanagar

Most programmes and activities of the institute involve more than one branch/department. Some of the major functions of each department are given below. These indicate only principal nodal responsibility. Each department is not an air tight compartment. One department can take support from other departments to accomplish its various activities.

Educational Technology (ET) Wing

The Educational Technology (ET) Wing of DIET Yamunanagar focuses on enhancing teaching and learning through the effective use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and digital tools. It plays a key role in modernizing education by integrating technology into teacher training and classroom instruction.

To maintain the following

  • All audio visual equipment of the institute.
  • CCRT educational kit provided by CCRT, New Delhi
  • Computer lab/DRC
  • Edusat Room
  • Language lab
  • Equipments of Smart Virtual Classroom
  • Smart lecture rooms (Digital boards and podiums)
  • Digital library
  • Maintenance and updating the DIET website

E.T. related resource support to the PSTE department

  • To develop in collaboration with concerned staff of institute & other resource persons, simple, effective and low cost teaching aids for various subjects, e.g. charts, diagrams, models, photographs, digital content, play scripts, etc. (workshop would be conducted for this purpose).
  • To acquaint the pupil teachers and teachers with online content and textual material developed by CCRT, New Delhi.
  • To impart elementary knowledge about the use of computers to the pupil teachers in tutorial groups.
  • Practice of micro teaching, teaching skills & formulation of lesson plans in tutorial groups.
  • To train pupil teachers and teachers to write audio and video scripts and produce various educational audio and video programmes.

Educational Technology related resource support to the IFIC department (including extension activities)

  • To acquaint the teachers & students in the schools with various facets of Indian culture with the help of online content and textual material developed by CCRT, New Delhi. (extension activity) It would be helpful for the effective teaching of EVS and Social Sciences.
  • Use of online content and textual material developed by CCRT, New Delhi in various in-service training programmes as per requirement of IFIC department.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Schedules of radio & television programmes of CIET (Central Institute of Educational Technology, New Delhi) would be made available to the schools so that they can integrate these programmes in their time table.
  • E-content of lessons (related to various subjects of foundational stage to secondary stage classes) developed by CIET would be made available in the institute for training and extension activities.
  • To ensure proper functioning of Edusat.
  • To liaise with nearby Radio stations for arranging educational broadcasts suitable for foundational stage to secondary stage school children, AIE learners, teachers/instructors of the district.
  • Preparation of the annual calendar of ICT related activities and its integration in various training programmes of the institute.
  • Creation and maintenance of e-content repository.
  • Creation and review of e-content for DIKSHA Portal and other platforms.
  • To impart training to teachers of various categories regarding various tools/software for e-content creation.
  • Creation of e-TLM.
  • Creation of ICT related content for various online and offline courses for the teachers.
  • Designing need based ICT content for students and teachers of foundational stage to secondary stage.
  • Utilisation of various online Apps and social media platforms.
  • Training pertaining to cyber safety and other technical innovations.
  • Faculty members of ET dept will provide ICT related inputs during mentoring visits of schools.
